I went and picked these parts up today for the Ramp Rat.
New dash pad used tilt wheel and heater box assembly.
All for $135.00

I need some help on the tilt though. Does it look like a truck are is it a van that has been modified? The guy I got it from says its factory truck.:chevy::metal:

Here are some measurements on it.
Over all length is like 38" 1-2 pictures. That's end of shaft to the steering wheel end.
3-4 pictures bottom bearing to bottom of top collar 26".
Anybody see anything that would say it's not a truck. Doesn't really matter but would like to know for sure one way are the other.
Also need to know how to get the 4 way switch out and replace it with a good working one.

Van column. The length of the steering shaft gives it away.

That's what I thought also. Oh well it's still a good deal and it will bolt in I hope with no problems.:chevy:

It will work perfectly, just need to collapse the lower steering shaft a bit :)

Yea I'm trying to find the info now. I found a post by 'dmec' on this and wondering if he is still around. I want to replace the upper collar for a floor shifter one. :chevy:

It will take some work Andy but it should make you a good one. Good deal on the package price too.
If I'm not mistaken there is info on the van tilts up in the faq.

It's red, that's probably why it was such a good deal. We all know red is an awful color.

Yea I think I found the info I needed. I'll try and post pictures as I go when I start on it. Tomorrow I have to go pick up 2 clusters I bought for $20.00 but they are just plain clusters no bottom gauges. But both work. So I get two good speedo and fuel gauges out of them.
I'm waiting on the gasket's for the heater box also so until it get here I'm just going to clean it up and paint it black I think.:chevy:

Another thing you will have to do is to cut a new slot for the NSS. The van is about half way up the tube and the Pickup is down at the bottom....

Andy I got a van tilt and the shifter retention pin was wallowed out. I made it into a look alike factory floor shift tilt by grinding the "knot" where the shifter was off and filling with short hair fiber strand. The other holes I welded up and body worked it all out and it turned out awesome. Since it was "messed up" I got it for $30 it changed over to a floor shift a lot easier than I had expected.
One more thing I did was to place the shifter in park and then welded the shifter arm to the housing before cutting off the shifter tab at the bottom, That was to keep everything in place and to prevent any future headaches. Oh by the way great snags on the parts. Jim

Is this a clearance issue( with dash,etc) or just the wires not being long enough?

The top outer cover is a steel sleeve that is pressed on the aluminum casting. To get it off you have to remove the tilt and turn levers, hazard knob, and tap it up from the bottom.

Good deal Andy

I've used van tilts with NSS in factory position. Yes, the wiring is short, so you need to make up extensions with a male and a female connector at each end. the other thing that is needed is swap the brake push rod to the opposite side of the brake peddle

I guess I have to get the old steering out and knock the sleeve down to make it all fit. That may be awhile. I have to get the column fixed up enough to install it. I need to take it a part and clean it good and grease the bearings good before installing it.

Anybody have any good pictures and notes for this?
I think I'll order the tilt wheel turn signal with hazaed button and take it a part to clean it up.:chevy:

Another day another score! Picked up a bench seat and electric washer out of a Chevy truck for $100.00.
The seat has the arm rest in it and the one in my 71 was nice so I hope this one will seat good to.
The seat will need to be cleaned good and the old took out. I need a couple of days to do it and the next few weeks are going to be full. So that's on hold for awhile.

Got the jug mounted & wired but need the water hoses to complete.

For the guy's who want to do this mod a little info on wiring.
The pump is hot all the time. Run the red wire from pump to 12 volts. I placed a 20 amp fuse inline with it also. Run the ground to the dash switch and plug it to the inside wire on the switch. When you push the wiper button in the pump is activated.
The switch has 3 wires connected to it with a plastic holder. 2 wires are side by side the inside one is the one you want. :chevy:

I just put an 88-94 bench in my 71.

I love it. Very. Comfortable. Width is perfect.

I bought this off E bay this morning. The old one wouldn't work and I took it apart and the worm gear was broke in to peices.:chevy:
