Trim alignment

What would be the best way to straighten the fender to door trim (upper)?
raise the fender or try and twist the door or both. I know the cab mounts are bad. I plan on replacing them when I transfer this sheetmetal over to my k20 frame. thanks |

Trim alignment sometimes requires a die grinder. I have seen plenty of original paint trucks that have had the clip holes elongated to achieve trim alignment.
It looks like the door trim may be high front and rear. You will have to remove the interior trim and remove the door from the truck. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but perfection is painful sometimes. It just takes a little nudge here and a little nudge there. It can be very frustrating. I replaced a set of cab mounts awhile back. You would think it would be a matter of R&R. I fought that thing for a full day after I got the mounts changed. |

Thanks, I was looking for a been there done that.
My thought was the door is a little high from po rocker repair BOTH SIDES. The rear of the cab might come up with new mounts and be closer to the bed. Then shim the cowl and fenders up. Adjusting the holes to move the trim is a good one. thanks |

X2 with davischevy. Don't adjust your body gaps to line up your trim (unless it is very,very minimal). Replace body & rad mounts, adjust all of your gaps, then adjust the trim.

For now I would try to shim the back of the fender upward till you got around to the body mounts....

When you get around to changing the body mounts, don't be surprised if you have to shim them individually to get body lines to line up. I set the bed first because it mounts solid, then the cab, then doors then fenders. |

Why bother ? you can spend all the time to line it up but with bad mounts/ supports all the work you do could move again . fix the under lying problem then fine tune it .:chevy:
