Gas filler neck box

When I finished my truck, I tried to put gas in it at the station. It would not take it. I tried several different flush mount "necks" before I had to go to the taller one. So I made a box to kinda hide it. I don't really like it, but have no other choice. You guys are experts. How bad does it really look? Be honest.

I think it looks good. Are the chrome pieces hold downs or handles? Do you have the vent tube hooked up?

Look like little hinges so the lid just rotates up? Looks fine, nice job.

Correct Jocko, those are stainless hinges.
It has 2 vents on it. One was not enough.

OK, I see that now. I couldn't get my eyes focused on it. Thanks Jocko

I had a problem with my Panel Truck fill until I hooked up the vent line, that's why I asked. I know some of the newer gas pumps pump a lot of gas in a short amount of time.....

looks like it fits real nice. How's it attached to the rest of the truck, welded in, anchors, epoxy? If it's sealed tight might want to add a drain hole of sorts inside the box in the bed floor in case anything leaks past it going down the road, rain, spilled gas, etc.

I also think it looks pretty damn nice! Good job!

It is held in with 4 stainless screws, 2 in wheel tub & 2 in bottom. I welded tabs on it. Will not hold water, no drain needed.

Nice work! Don't see any problem with it at all. Could even use it as a secret stash!

That looks great. What fill neck is that, I have the exact same problem.

Neck is off a Harley tank welded to 1 1/2" exhaust tubing.

I thought it was a panel/suburban neck, looks just like the one in my '67 panel....

looks great, you could even add a hasp/lock if you needed too.... what kind of liner did you use on your bed?

Jim, Bed liner is Duplicolor clear mixed 8 to 1 with paint. Sprayed on. 2 coats. Bought at Jegs.

That looks great! Looks like it belongs there. High enough to make it easy to fill, yet small enough that people won't stare at it and ask "what the heck is that?"
It's much better than my Redneck version...Attachment 1633247
