Know exact measurements for cab mount bolts? Cab cart stuff

I made the original post disappear, just a bunch of nonsense. See post #9 if interested. Thanks for the help, especially one patient Dustmaker.

I borrowed this from a previous thread years ago, but it helped me a lot. Maybe it will help you out.

I saw that too thanks. Course I could be wrong, but I don't believe 40.75" is correct.

Re: Know exact measurements for cab mount bolts? Cab cart stuff

I plan to drill out the holes a bit wider anyway, and there's just an 1/8" difference in measurements per side (40.5 Vs 4.75), but I'd like to "nail" it the first time. Just hoping for confirmation.

On a side note, not exactly your $60 cart, but I tend to overbuild, and I'm hoping it's just that. Something about watching a cab pounding earth is disturbing. Course I'll post a pic when done. Busy lately, springtime chores + here and at my parents. Retirement is rough..........HA!

This is what use for cab carts...

Easy and fast to build, and cheap! I have a couple that are 48 inches long, one that is 72 inches(for two cabs) and one that is 96 inches long(for rolling cab on its back to replace floors).

Stout & straight forward cart. Hadn't seen that one. I was thinking about those casters, but already pulled the trigger on 400 lb. steel. Good price too, so I bought eight. Nothing is cheap dude. I need another box of 3" screws, and that alone is $30

Did you bolt the cab down & how? Let me also ask, from a damage control standpoint, you figure there's a preference whether on its back verses on its firewall?

As for the casters I used...Harbor Freight for under $10 bucks. Don't really care what they are made of, as long as they roll :)

LOL...you don't need 3" screws for 2x4's... 2 3/4" is more than good.

No need to bolt the cabs down...they are heavy enough to stay on the cart and push them around. When I replace a floor, I cut the front off inside the cab then roll it on it's cowl to cut the back out. (I do brace them from the inside to keep them together.)

I build these at 36 3/4" wide. The cab sits on there between the two supports. And as I said earlier, any length from 48" to 96". The 96" long cart holds two cabs back to back very easily.

Hope this helps!
Jimmy

It does help, a lot. Thank you. Unfortunately I'm more a descriptive guy and have a question or two. Hope you don't mind, I'll send a PM.

Seriously, pictures are often lost on me. Part bad eyes, part former profession, part birth defect...HA!. I like that cart. Might even buy those 8" wheels you've got (gulp, already bought eight 4.5"), but those wheels on that cart gives the 7.5" plus clearance I need if I use a hoist.

Re: Know exact measurements for cab mount bolts? Cab cart stuff

I ended up with more or less a combination of carts I've seen. No doubt I made it "bigger" than it needs to be. I tend to make mountains of mole-hills until I've done it once, and can't say I've approached moving a cab. I do like the idea the cab bolts down using the existing cab supports, because this may be transported. You could build one cheaper for sure. 2x3, 2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 4x4, 32 bolts etc. This was not a cheap cart. Now I can pull fenders and doors and GET THE CAB OFF THE FRAME ALREADY. ;)

600LB. casters YIKES!. They were cheaper than the junk 300 lb. casters at Cal Ranch. Only downside is these don't lock. Guess that's what sand bags are for, and no there's no shortage of those thanks to that winter.

The center pad is just cuz. I penciled that in at an 1/8" rise, and remembered why I hadn't thrown the floor mat away, which the foster dog had chewed up. Very cool dog, a Peruvian Orchid Inca.

I'll likely build a platform that bolts onto this cart, so I can lay the cab on it's back. Those will have locking casters, ha!.

At any rate, I welcome any critics. You figure I need diagonal supports? I don't see it, but they're a simple add. Thanks for the help, always appreciated.

I promise the "emblem" has a purpose....HA!https://scontent-sjc2-1.xx.fbcdn.net...ae&oe=59B5AAC6

LOL. With the front & rear pads on, it was tempting to drive it down the driveway.
