Stranger Things
 

So I've been binging away at both seasons of Stranger Things. Anyone but me notice all the Chevy/GMC trucks from our era in that show? I've seen at least half a dozen 67-72s featured and as many squarebodies, including Hopper's Jimmy. Even in the junkyard there are our trucks in various stages of decay.

Think the Duffer Bros are fans of the hobby?

I noticed that too.

You want to see a show with very well done use of period cars and trucks, and a lot of them, check out Mindhunter on Netflix. Mid to late 70s era, lots of our style of trucks. I'm actually blown away at how period authentic they are. But this isn't a show for kids at all. Its about how the FBI got in to profiling serial killers and the process it went through. Not a documentary. And I'm sure its loosely based.

Funny, my son recommended I watch that. I'm one episode away from done with Stranger Things, I'll queue that up next. That is if the wife doesn't take my iPad away LOL...

I never watch TV, but I will say that I see more of our type trucks driving around now than I would have expected 25 years ago. If not for the internet and its ability to find long-discontinued parts (now reproduction) these trucks would be scrap metal like so many of their junkyard brothers that were parts-unavailable BEFORE the internet. Yes, the internet makes it possible for these prop trucks to be obtained for the show (and movies) as well.
My uncle had a broken 1957 Thunderbird that he took to a shady mechanic in our hometown back in the 1970s. The mechanic told him that the part to fix the truck was no longer available, so my uncle practically GAVE the mechanic the car, thinking that it was useless junk. Well, the mechanic was then seen DRIVING that car all over town good as new. Boy, was my uncle MAD!!! Internet, where were you??
