Is this a new or a used lift? What Brand?

jerry moss 11-01-2003 10:17 AM

it is used, the blocks are tuff country but i see no name on the front springs. i pulled it from a 77 suburban to use on my own suburban but i found a 2 1/2 inch kit and decided to use it instead.

NAPCO ken 11-04-2003 03:56 PM

Are the front springs in decent shape? And how many leafs? And do they have telflon inserts between the leaf tips? Thanks.

jerry moss 11-04-2003 08:53 PM

Ken,
the springs are in great shape but will need new bushings ($29.00 from tuff country). there are 6 leafs and no teflon inserts on the tips. the suburban i pulled them from was not wrecked, just had a bad motor and ended up in the wrecking yard. i was planning to use them under my own/wifes suburban but she didn't want it that high so i picked up a 2 1/2 inch lift from another wrecking yard.
hope this info helps, thanks for your interest.

NAPCO ken 11-11-2003 12:31 PM

So these are Tuff Country brand? Also, are you in Brentwood, CA?

jerry moss 11-11-2003 10:19 PM

Ken,
i don't know the brand name of the front springs, only the rear blocks are marked.
yes, i'm in brentwood, ca. but i'm in northern ca.- s.f. bay area.

Destructo 11-15-2003 02:13 PM

Are the front springs 3/4 ton or 1/2 ton?

jerry moss 11-15-2003 05:21 PM

the kit i have came out of a 3/4 ton.

Destructo 11-16-2003 12:13 AM

front springs are probably different then, most likely heavier springs.

NAPCO ken 11-26-2003 02:04 PM

Jerry, do you still have this lift kit for sale? Also, where is it at? I am in Anaheim, CA. Thanks.

jerry moss 11-26-2003 09:16 PM

Ken,
it's still for sale but i'm about 7 hours north of you. there's two brentwood's in calif, the one near you made famous by o.j. simpson and the one i live in, which is in the s.f. bay area.

Destructo 11-27-2003 12:21 AM

Was the kit bought FOR a 3/4 ton pickup? Can you tell me if the front springs are heavier because the kit was bought for a 3/4 ton? I have 1/2 ton 4" lift u-bolts and plates so thats no problem. I was just worried about the front springs being too heavy duty for a 1/2 ton. How long have those front springs been used?

jerry moss 11-27-2003 01:23 AM

Destructo,
lift kits are not usually 1/2 or 3/4 ton specific on front springs---the tuff country kit i bought for my 72 3/4 ton is identical to the kit i bought for my 69 1/2 ton. the only difference was on the rear u-bolts due to the larger axle tube diameter on my 3/4 ton. i have no way of knowing how old the kit is, i bought it from under a suburban in my local wrecking yard. the suburban was not wrecked, just had a bad motor.

Destructo 11-27-2003 02:44 PM

If NAPCO Ken ends up not wanting it i'll probably take it off your hands. If you know anybody needing a 406 small block I have one. You can find the thread on the 73-87 for sale board. Could you tell that the front springs sagged any? I can get rear lift springs for 150 bucks, so i'll probably just use the blocks for a bit then buy a set of springs for the back.
