Check out my Buddy's truck!

He is a GM parts guy. This is his new truck he's building.

An 85 short bed CREW CAB 4x4 half-ton!

Nice looking, don't know about the mirrors..........

He doesn't even have a computer

Suffice to say this, without his help, selling me truck parts at great prices, I could not have old trucks to play with. A helpful GM dealership guy is worth his weight in gold!

Here's my old 72, which I sold to him, that he drives daily.

I like those crew cab short boxes, there was one around here for sale with 44's on it.

That crew cab is sweet. I think the mirrors fit the truck better being a lifted 4x4 and not a lowered truck. At least it's not the really large camper style mirrors.

I love that truck, would be great for me and my family, wouldnt need to ride in the wifes Ford all the time when everyone is here.:D

Tx Firefighter , Give us some more details about it. I'm not in to 4wd anymore, but I love short-crewcabs. I had a 97 short-crew and loved it. Now I have a 02 1500HD short-crew.

What did he do to build it? Did he shorten the 1 ton frame, or stretch a 1/2 ton? Give us details, and some better pics please....:p

What is the wheel bace on that thing, I would love to build one if I could talk the wife into it.

He took a factory 1 ton crew cab and cut the front and rear of the frame off. He then grafted 1/2 ton 4x4 front and rear stubs to the frame. It's titled as a 1 ton though. Can you say lax emission standards?

N2TRUX- was your 97 lowered on 17 inch wheels, orange in color?

 Wow! Measure once cut twice. That seems like a little extra work. Couldn't he just bolt the 1/2 ton front suspension on without the frame stub?

My 97 was lowered on 17's but it wasn't orange. Here's a pic...

His 1 ton crew cab was 2wd, and the 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive stuff wouldn't bolt on to the 2wd frame.

N2TRUX 11-02-2003 10:02 AM

It must be the difference in the 1 ton frame then. I had a buddy of mine convert a 4wd Blazer to 2wd then a few years later, back to 4wd. Besides drilling some holes, "most" of the stuff bolted on.

Regardless, I still love it. If I ever get my 82 Blazer finished, I want to build one myself...
