72 Door Panel Question
2 Attachment(s)
I have a rough 72 C20, I put in astro turf in for carpet, just a fun driver. But I can't seem to get one of the door panels to stay put using the small plastic fasteners (see picture). Any advice? They seem to snap or the panel detach from them. I'm not above any kind of shenanigans to get the panel to stay. It's got a deteriorating nature, so nothing that needs to be preserved.
Also I'd rather not buy the missing padded armrest for one side, anyone fabbed up anything cool to replace them? Mainly for closing the door. Thanks in advance. |

Try a little longer fastener and just push the panel in far enough to hold it snug. Don't pound on it...:) LockDoc |

Re: 72 Door Panel Question
#12 or #14 sheet metal screw. Bout 1/2" or 3/4" long. Been holding mine just fine. You can get stainless ones to, if yer fancy.
For the armrest. Chunk of a 2x4. Drill holes bigger than the bolt that holds em on the door. Sleeve the hole with a steel spacer. countersink the hole, use a washer, screw em on. Again, if yer fancy, stretch some fabric over em and glue it on. All of this can be done for about $12 at Ace Hardware. |
