AC/Heater housing sticky stuff

Working on a previous truck, it had this gritty rubbery stuff insulating the housing where the two came together. I removed it while working on it and then misplaced it.

Any ideas what this stuff is so I can get some more?

Parts stores sell it. Getting the sales person to look for it in a book may be a challenge, depending on where you buy parts.....

O'Reilly sells it in a 30' roll. Murray #59010 - I used it on my '65 Bel Air this summer when I rebuilt the a/c system. If you go in there and ask anyone born after 1980 about it, they probably won't know what you're talking about!

Butyl tape, is what it's called, comes in flat 3" wide 1/4" thick, all the way down to rope strips, 1/8" around... stretches, squishes flat to seal when clamped between 2 surfaces... gummy all the way thru..Most of the time its gray, but can be found in black.

I think Boss Hogg has it up on top.
Looking online with the words insulation tape

I found a couple of websites of 72 Gran Torino Sport 17 year Barn nap find and a hot rod installing old Air Products hurricane heat and AC hot rod Network. Had pictures of it.

So it's looking like that's what I need. I really do appreciate it guys!

Yes its called Butyl tape it comes in a varity of forms, but the tape type is what you want , if you have a hard time finding it you can always find it at your local HVAC supply house or roofing supply that carries flashing and or metal roofing.

Attached is what this stuff looks like. It's certainly not grey butyl to hold in an RV window that's for sure. Is the grittiness that's in it from Cork?

I work in HVAC. We use same stuff. It is also called cork tape. What I use comes on a roll about 2" wide. It is just a sealer that does not come loose if it gets wet.
