Question for 67-72 stepside guys

1 Attachment(s)
my new bed and fenders have a hole for a rear brace . my question is do any of your trucks have a brace here ? If so does anybody know where I get one. According to lmc and other 67-72 truck parts retailers it doesnt have one. I saw one in the assembly manual as well. The pic is a 66 model ( top left brace in pic )and I know they had it but like I said my new bed and step fenders have the wholes to bolt it on.

Mine has the braces but I don't know where to buy them. Find someone parting one out here on the board.

Even better for me, they are in Buford GA, literally 4 miles from my house....no shipping. I got my bedsides from them too.

Is that one shorter that the one's you ordered? I have a short one I took off my '67 and used 4 long ones. This one is 13 1/4" long bent on one end and straight on the other. I will send it to you for $10 including shipping if you think it will work.

If you have a welder you can make your own...5/16" or 3/8" round bar and some scrap 1/8' flat stock....measure how long you need them to be....drill a few holes. Easy fab job.

I misread your question. I do have all the OE fender braces on my 69 step side. I'd be glad to snap a pic or two if it will help you.

I do have a shorter one for the rear on my '72 - depending on the bend at one end it's 12.5 - 13". Just like the longer ones (round bar, flat ends) but shorter and slightly different bend at one end.
Boog - I'd like to see that photo - can't locate the photo I took of the supports still on my fenders of my '72.
Don't forget the triangulated brace that goes from under the side marker light pocket, down and back. Here are photo's:

Re: Question for 67-72 stepside guys

I kick myself as I had two complete sets of braces for stepside fenders and I let one set go with a set of rear fenders I sold a few months ago. I kept a complete set for my truck but let the other set go with those fenders.

Here's my thread on the fender braces.

There are four per side, and only the two long ones are reproduced for some reason.
