Re: Wanted 2 rear brake drums 68 K1500
Auto zones drums wont fit our gmc. Ours has the larger studs and they are different. We had good luck at rock auto. Bought two new ones then they went on clearance and we bought two more. No one has them. No we wont sell the extra ones but if yours has larger studs can send you part number when I get home. Ours is a 68 gmc 1500 2 wheel drive.

Is it original to the truck?, A Dana 44,60?, GM 12 bolt? |
Re: Wanted 2 rear brake drums 68 K1500
It should be a dana44, besides looking at the pumpkin the emergency brake cables bolt to the backing plates whereas the 12 bolts have a push in clip.

Re: Wanted 2 rear brake drums 68 K1500
Yes what he said. Ours is 6 hole. Dana 44 - 3.54 ratio. 68 gmc leaf springs truck. Larger studs than our 71 chevy.

Re: Wanted 2 rear brake drums 68 K1500
I should have said why I need brake drums , mine were fine except I had to have the lug hole enlarged because of new larger studs.
The mechanic was supposed to enlarge them by just 1/8” larger than the new stud. He got carried away and now there 1/4” larger . I know there a reason lug holes are not over sized , so the drum won’t rotate to much when brakes are applied and ripping the shoes off the pins . I’m sure that’s the reason for lug holes not being to big ? this Is correct isn’t it ? |
