definate score!
have fun |
I just scored too. The ole lady was in a good mood. :D Will the 72 body bolt right up?
|
If it is a step bed it'll work, but if you want to use stock style fenders you'll have to fill in the old fender mounting holes and drill new ones for the 67-72 style. You'll also need to add some sheet metal and other mods to get the stps to work, as well as modifying the rear cross sill to allow it to align up. I'm still working on mine, but at the price you paid and if you have the patience it'll work out real nice. Not sure about the fleetside, I don't think they line up well and you'll still need to modify the rear cross sill.

the freind also gave ma a stepside bed ( with a new bed wood kit wit stainless strips

You have some good friends dude.
|
well, I have to do some body work and get his truck reasy for paint - but labor is free
|
You plan on putting the body on the 74 frame? If this is still going to be a C-10...as in 2 wheel drive, it won't work. The back of the 73 & up frame bends upward quite a bit while the 67 - 72 frames are flat.
If you are going to make it a K-10, then you can do it with a body lift. |
if I use a 75 stepsid bed - will it work?
|
The cab will be sitting way too low.
Some one on here tried it once and found this out the hard way. With any luck, he (who ever it was) will see this and shed the first hand info to you. |
andy that was me, the front cab mounts are like 8 inches lower, i found this out after i cleaned up an 85 frame. lowered it, brake lines etc, it was a real piss off, however a 4x4 is no sweat beacause you can do a minor body lift to eliminate that problem

oh well looks like I have another future project to put in yhe woods with the others
