Spare tire mount finished, finally

3 Attachment(s)
You guys may have seen my post on the in bed spare tire mount I fabricated.
Here is the finished product.
I repourposed a locking gas cap and pressed the locking part into a chunk of aluminum and came up with a watertight locking cap to store whatever.
At the moment, I just have a rag,
pair of gloves and a flashlight .Anyway, it came out pretty good. Was going to paint it but I'm now just want to polish it out to a mirror finish.

I can show pictures of the "guts" if any of you want ideas to fab your own.

Anybody know why the pictures always flip?

I check them with preview post.

Thank you. Yes 6161. Thanks for the tip on pictures flipping. I'm now trying my hand at polishing aluminum.
Can I just spray a coat of clear-coat on it when it's done? or is there anything else I need to do to keep it from oxidizing and getting dull?

Sorry my friend, No time to go into fabricating for sale YET. I still have a couple more years of punching a time clock, then I open my home shop for fun stuff like this for people.

Clear-coat will eventually start flaking or change colors.
Never-dull would be best for that piece. IMO.
Here is a link.
You can buy it online or at most stores that have auto cleaning stuff.

This looks even better in person. Saw it this morning at the local donut shop. Nice Meeting you Dennis, you did a great job on the spare tire mount, and the rest of your truck looks nice as well.
