I believe what you're looking for is the 72 only alt bracket like the top one in the pic.

The shorter version, pictured on the bottom is the earlier style like my 70 had before I replaced it with the 72 style.

I bought that exact alternator bracket from performance online. Not OEM, but it works for me.

Not sure I understand your question completely, but I think you're asking if the 72 style bracket will have the same offset as the chrome bracket you have pictured above. If that is correct, then yes, the 72 style bracket will have the same offset and will install the same way as your current chrome bracket. The 72 bracket has a longer slot which will allow you to use a longer belt, therefore moving the alternator away from the valve cover for increased clearance for taller/aftermarket valve covers.

Re: WTB ALT Bracket

I thought it was just me I only have enough clearance between the valve cover and alternator for a piece of paper . the alternator is at max adjustment took a lot of trips back and forth to the parts store to find a belt to force on

You are not alone. I had to do the same thing prior to installing the 72 style upper bracket. Plenty of adjustment now.

after a recent trip to Tractor Supply (NG) and a few to Napa here is Part# 7530 and what I came up with that worked for me... as you can see there is least one inch clearance between the valve cover and alternator and relatively easy to get it over the pulleys with some adjustment left ...and many thanks to NGN
