Power Steering Adapter Advice
2 Attachment(s)
I'm putting a power steering pump from a 98 Silverado in my 72 Blazer as part of the serpentine drive setup. I've searched the board and looked at what vendors have, and it looks like there are two basic types of adapters. There are some that are threaded, and some that just drop into the fittings. Those of you who have done this, what do you recommend? Bonus question - I imagine I would want to use the hoses from the Silverado, right? Or does it matter? I don't have the brackets installed yet, so I can't mock it up right now.
Thanks! |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Advice
Chevy already has this covered you undo the hose and adapter from your stock pump and re install it on your new serpintine pump and done
Other easy way is to use an 80 and up ps box that is oring setup One plus is this wsy is a quicker ratio box then the 67 72 setup |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Advice
I used the original hoses. Get an adapter for the pump from Summit Racing. Quite simple. That way you will always remember what hoses you need when replacing. Either way you will need an adapter.

Chevy has that adapter covered no extra parts needed
You remove the chevy adapter from one pump to the new pump Look at the big nut the hose screws into that is the adapter |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Advice
Yep, just use the output from your old pump. No adapters needed.
Or swap to the later box. Either way, no adapter |
Re: Power Steering Adapter Advice
where hose screw ingot he pump is a 1 inch nut remove that replace the oring and install in the new pump and use your stock lines its what i did on my ls swap
