Door hinge replacement
Is it possible to replace the door hinges without removing the front fenders? Does just removing the inner fender give you enough access to the bolts on the cab?

Re: Door hinge replacement
No , The door will have to be realigned anytime you change hinges . There really isn't any shortcut . :chevy:

Didn't think so, but thought I'd throw it out there before I go doing something I didn't need to do. Thanks for the help.

Re: Door hinge replacement
I have to respectfully disagree with the Grumpster on this one. I removed my hinges to replace the pins without removing the fenders. I did have some special wrenches I used, one of which I built and had to modify during the project, as what worked on the drivers side, didn't work on the passenger side.
Once I was done I did have to realign the doors as Grumpy stated. Time wise it was probably a bust over removing the fenders. I just didn't want to risk damaging the paint on the fenders by removing them. Scroll to the bottom of post #887 in my repair thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...698377&page=36 |
Re: Door hinge replacement
Thanks for the info. Like you, my biggest concern is not scratching the paint. I can deal with the extra time it might take.
