No way to turn
I install one of those after market tilt column's in my 69 C10. The install went ok... Until I went to put the stock steering wheel back on. The shaft doesn't protrude enough to engage the splines before the wheel jams against the column...

Re: No way to turn
I don't know how it is on aftermarket, but on my stock column I need to make sure the inner column shaft is fully out and the lower bearing is fully seated before doing final positioning and tightening down brackets that hold the out steering column in place on the firewall in the engine compartment and under the dash. It is possible when the column is loose and not yet attached to the dash and firewall to put the steering wheel on and hold it in place with the nut at least finger tight.

I loosened the hardware in the engine compart but still not able to pull any length inward.

What happens if you just put the nut on the shaft and try to pull up on it by pulling on the nut? Can you move it any? LockDoc |

Did you install the spring and canceling cam shown in this post before installing the steering wheel?

Re: No way to turn
Every aftermarket column that I have seen is set up for a 69/76 (maybe later than that) Car streering wheel or the adapter used to put and aftermarket wheel on one.
You would have to buy this Ididit column to have the original wheel fit. https://www.ididit.com/i-25048234-19...ft-chrome.html |
