Bedside step: been here before.
I remember this from a while back; there was some discussion about a step built into the bedside on some fleetside trucks and whether it was a factory deal or not. I remember someone had pics of a blazer / jimmy with the step. There's a truck on ebay right now that has the same step. Did we ever conclude where these came from? I'd post a pic but I cannot right now for some reason  Thanks all....

Steps were available and from what I can see, it looks like the right step.
Perhaps Jerry Moss will comment as I believe he has a truck with steps on it. Jim |
Yes, it is probably original, however, not stock.
When the fleet side trucks came out i '58, people complained there was no place to stand while working from the side of the truck. G.M> made these inserts to answer that problem. P/N988423 had a dealer cost of less than $6, and a list price of $10. They were made of sturdy cast alluminum, and highly buffed and polished face. They came with mounting hardware and a template to show where to install on the badside with no sheet metal damage or warping. There is reported to be plenty still in the dealership networks. http://i22.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/27/12/3d_3.JPG |
Just for the record...that is a Longhorn.
http://i8.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/27/5f/3a_3.JPG Anyone like that tail gate treatment? I think it is kinda ugly IMO. http://i12.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/27/61/fc_1_s.JPG Doesn't look like a bad truck all in all, I don't think the roof was origianlly white, there is no trim and doesn't apear to have the trim mounting nipples, and there is evidence of a repaint....but still a decent looking truck. |
