Just a suggestion: Why don't you try using some 3M Double-Sided tape to secure some nice original trim? I know a guy who stuck some aftermarket trim on his '72 Cheyenne. No offense, but I thought it looked kinda tacky. Just did not look "right". Hard to explain. Anyway, I haven't used any for this particular application. But, I have used it for emblems and it works great. And, NO HOLES to drill! Just be sure to use the type for automotive trim. You can buy it on-line, too. I'm not sure, but I think I bought it directly from 3M. Been a long time ago.
