I am using this tranny also. Do you have any pics of the pedal setup inside the truck? Did this tranny come out of a full size truck?(shifter location looks perfect) I have this tranny with a vortec 350 on tubular motor mounts in the v 8 position and I was able to use my stock driveshaft. My particular tranny came from a 4.3 s-10 so the shifter looks to sit further back than yours.
