I do it with the 2X4 also and I have a hoist. Just remove the motor mount bolt, power steering bracket that goes to the motor mount. You will need to watch the fan and shroud. I usually just remove the shroud and lay it against the front of the motor. That way it will move with the motor and not break. Then you just need to get in there and get the motor mounts loose and changed. It's not real bad. Just make sure you watch your fingers. If your into safety like I am you can shove a 4x4 piece of wood under the pan on top of the crossmember in case the jack fails. Will save your hands if it does.
