If you are building a low end torque engine you can't beat a stock iron manifold. Of the tests that I have seen between the stock manifold and various after market street dual planes the stocker held it's own and in some cases posted higher torque numbers up to about the 3500-4000 rpm range. Hot Rod Magazine did a test a few years ago between the stocker, Performer and Performer RPM. All 3 were virtually a dead heat up to 3500 then the stocker fell off a little in the mid range. Of course the Edelbrocks posted better HP numbers in the upper mid to top end range. Installed with a Q-Jet on a torque engine that would rarely see the top side of 4500 you would get very good results with a stocker. GM made some aluminum versions in the '80s that take a Q-Jet too if you want the look of aluminum. I have one out in the shop if you would like to see what it looks like. I put on an Offenhauser I also had since I'm using a stronger cam and ported heads and decided not to use it.
