The issue I had was my day job pays $40 an hour and the average coating job was $120-$150, but it ended up taking an average of 4 to 5 hours a job. So after raw materials, shop expenses, and energy, it worked out to be about $25 an hour. That doesn't include the time away from my wife and daughter. It was only about one night a week, but it made for a long night.
I was also in the Navy Reserve, then the National Guard and drill pay was truck $$. But the National Guard isn't as side-jobish as it used to be
