I say do some research, a local tranny shop should be able to build you a nice street/strip TH350 or TH400 for no more than $700.00. I use a local guy that builds them in his sleep and I don't know if it is the repeat business or the referrals I send his way but he built me a super strong TH350 for less than $400 and that was with no core. My motor is stock, but I do tow a good bit.
