I was thinking of doing the same. And yes you should flip the cell around because of the sump. I know it sucks but you don't want to starve the engine when your on it. Maybe you can fab up some sort of cover to hide the lines.

I was also thinking when i do this is to make up a couple of extra braces to support the cell. 16 gallons of fuel is heavy. Then again it might be over board.
