Also, if you only have D and L, that seems like it would be a two speed, maybe a Powerglide? The 350 would have D/L2/L1. With as much butchering as some of these trucks go through you could always have the wrong gear indicator. I just know in my 350 1st to 2nd happens very quickly and if you're just cruising sometimes I miss it.
