power glides are mainly good for drag cars weighing 2500/2600 lbs or less.
The best mod I did to my gutless 283/powerglide 67 Impala with 336 rear gears was install a TH350........went from gutless non tire spinning to being able to get out of its own way and tire spinning made easy.
Glides can be swapped for th350's with ease of parts swap and all. Its a very common swap that actually yields great results.
