It is not necessary to remove the rear channel when replacing the window seals. The old seal will peel out and the new seal can be "stuffed in". It is a good practice to glue the upper part of the seal for 4-6 inches to keep it from working downward.

The lower window seals, (window fuzzies?) are held in place with clips that "stab" into small rectangular holes stamped into the inside of the door. They act like fishhooks and are difficult to remove usually. If you have a windshield clip removal tool it can be used to pull the clips out.
