van tilts can be had fairly easily in the junk yard and on e-bay. Pulling them yourself, at the right yard, can be VERY cheap. I just installed an $8 van tilt in my burb last weekend, needed an $11 part in the turn signal, needed both the turn signal and tilt lever, had a VERY nice looking shifter and indicator, also had to replace the pointer.
With the stuff I had just laying around... I have about $25 wrapped up in it, and possibly 4 hrs of labor, woulda been much quicker, but the burb fought me every step of the way.
