Re: Locking gas cap for 72
After I retired from the Navy this Jan., I moved off base. Now I was in town living with everyone else and my truck was a target. I bought the plastic one from Auto zone and the gas thief got it off in two seconds. He got away with 50 dollars worth of gas. The second one I got at NAPA and it was removed in two seconds with a nice big screw driver. Fortunently I didn't loose but one gallon that time. I went out and bought some materials and made a locking cover that covers the whole shaft that sticks out from the cab. Now, they get nothing. My next step is too make plating to protect the undercarrage gas lines. I did go as far as to talk to company's over seas that produce special locking caps. Everything I tried was a dead end. Eventially I will create something that hides inside the tank shaft and doesn't allow any gas to be taken or allow anything in but the gas. Good Luck on your search. Gas and our trucks is too precious these days.
