I have seen pictures of 4WD TH350 cases cracked at the area above the fluid lines from excessive engine torque. I run a chain from my frame to the side motor mount that allows about 1/2" slack for around town but limits movement when romping in the woods.

I'd go with method A too, on my truck I had to fab a bracket and did what you outlined.
