i am hoping for a tire-less measurement, like hub center to fenderwell, but I think what I'll do is jack one side up and strap the body down to see how much comp. extension there is and then as Drbyrdman suggests, call Bilstein. I suspect, however, that either ext or comp will be maxed before the other, so I'll likely only have one sizing in the range, and have to make some kind of limiter for the other
I suppose it's better to design where you say, I want the shock to be capable of over the 28" of extension I see, which means I have to have 16" min compressed and so you move the bump stop down to stop the axle before it bottoms out the shock. Hopefully there will be a logical chocie out of the shocks available. I don't plan to do HEAVY wheeling, but I want the articulation controlled by the suspension and not the shock, as the shock will lose.
