1. If I want discs in the back, I need to swap axles, I am saving this project for another day. The rear will stay stock dually drums.

2. My plan is to swap the spindles in the front for 88 or later spindles off of a C3500 8 lug whatever junkyard donor.

This is where I need help, the tie rod issues I have found answers to, but I need to know if the ball joint for an 88 C3500 will bolt into the 67 a arms, or not. I see in the easy disc conversion thread that the lower one should bolt in, but it doesn't specifically address the upper for a C30, only a C10.

Also, I will grab the proportioning valve and calipers and lines off of the donor or similar donor, I would like to stay with manual brakes, what are my options for a master cylinder?

Thanks for any help or advice, if I am crazy or wrong please let me know before I start junkyard diving.

Hopefully I can explain clear enough, If not just say so and I'll try again.

1) Are you thinkiing you can't convert to rear discs because you have a HO52 or HO72 rear diff? If that is the diff you have, the 14 bolt conversion pieces are supposed to work with slight modifications.

2) It sounds like you've read the thread in the FAQ about the 6 lug conversion using '88 and up 6 lug light duty 3/4 ton rotors? In '88 only the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks changed body style and overall platforms. The 1 tons, Blazers and Suburbans didn't change until '92. So everything in that thread only applies to 1/2ton and 3/4 ton conversions.

So to convert your front to discs you just need the parts from a '71-'91 1 ton (C30 or C3500). I would suggest swapping control arms and all if not the whole crossmember assembly.

I would not recommend staying with manual brakes on a 1 ton. For one I don't know if you'll be able to find a manual master cylinder (they were available in C10's) that will have a big enough bore to properly operate the 1 ton calipers (larger piston than 1/2 ton). Also 1 tons typically came with Hydroboost assisted master cylinders instead of vacuum.
