How deep is the speaker? Can you mount the speaker inside the panel and then leave the grille off? Use some light cloth to cover it.
Another is get under truck with e brake off and tighten up cable good so the brake is off when the handle is against the speaker.
Not knowing if either of these methods would work since I can't look at it but it's a starting point for you.
