My dad did this back in the mid 80s. He put his 55 on 75 chevy 4 wheel drive frame. I don't know exactly how much lift he had under it, but he had some 44s on it, and he put a 427 BBC out of vette. It was a pretty bad truck, according to the stories I've heard anyway. Sadly, he never finished it, due to me being born. Here are some pics of it. We still have it, but it is in bad need of restoration, hopefully we'll get work on it this year.
