Zero lash is when you are at TDC (compression stroke) both valves are closed and you have tightened the rocker just enough so that there is no up or down movement of the rocker. Another cool way to find zero lash is to spin the pushrod with your fingers while tightening the rocker nut. As soon as you start to feel some tension, you are at zero lash.
