People do that all the time in the northeast. Got a truck with no body left, found a clean truck but it's 2wd, swap the bodies and be done. Up here they don't check anything else but the VIN, and as long as it matches the registration, they leave it at that. Stuff up here rusted so bad, there is no way to read the VIN on the frame. I never knew there was one till someone told me about it. Same with the door tag. Doors don't last very long, but now and then you can find a clean one in a junkyard, and who is gonna swap the tags over??? It's only a door?? If a cop wants to be a jerk, he probly could right you a ticket, but would get thrown out in court.

If not I'll find out. I'm taking a 2wd 89 crew cab dually and turning it into a 4wd crew cab SWR. But not swapping the body/frame, so maybe they will be oblivious.....
