I can't speak to what the 7.3 can hold up to regarding revs, but I can tell you what it behaved like in my Super Duty. As far as economy goes, the engine likes to run at 2K or less. You could push it a little over 2K cruising down the hwy but mpg fell off quickly and severely over 2K.
The engine pulls really hard between 2K and 3K and will make a F-250 CC Super Duty a stop light king, relatively speaking. That's where the boost is on and it delivers. But I'd hate to see the engine spin at those revs going down the hwy.
It may do that and hold together forever, I don't know. But it won't run at those revs and deliver any reasonable mpg.
