Most likely you will be able to use the factory compressor on the 5.3.

Most late model compressors can handle either clutch cycling or constant run systems. Use the proper type and amount of oil for the compressor. The oil may be listed on the comp label, other wise check with a dealer. As for the amount, Vintage Air should have an idea about that.

FYI, I used to test automotive AC compressors. My guess is educated.
