I did this to my 69 SWB. It is a bolt for bolt swap until you get to the crossmember, and it does need to go back. I love this trans because of the spread in gear ratios. The best way I can describe it is like a TH350 with one more gear change. Make sure that you get the TV cable adjusted properly, or there will be short life to that trans. if you get someone to build it for you, ask them to firm up the shifts. I used a lokar TV cable and their throttle linkage that will bolt up with not hassle to a Holley or an Edelbrock carb. Promise you will love this!
