I have a vintage air sure fit in my 69 burb and it is a heat/cool unit. I didn't keep any of the old heater core components. The only thing repurposed is the heater controls in the cab. Mine was a non original a/c truck. Other members (or vintage air) will need to chime in regarding a factory a/c trucks keep/toss items. Make sure your levers and switch are in good shape. You can get repops from many period vendors. I use LMC for most stuff?!
