If you use Vintage or Oldair or one of those other vendors, your current evaporator will just go away. How you want to close up the holes is up to you. You can buy a heater delete kit to close up the old holes and then use the kits template to make new holes, or go about it any way you want. Really its up to you. My Oldair kit came with a block off plate that just covered the old holes in the firewall with a plate. Vintage air uses a bulkhead fitting, but not sure how they take care of the firewall holes.
