If you are in a hot climate the tape my or may not work. The tape that is sold over the counter usually is not the tape the oem's use. We have found that we have to use adhesive to get them to stay on permanently around here. their is tape you can use but its not the stuff you buy at auto parts stores. get the VHB stuff from 3M not the auto store stuff it will hold sheetmetal together.
