Now that you mention it,my '70 Cstom Camper/30 had the Custom package with standard pedals and maybe the knobs were black.I just don't recall,but I believe not.The 69-72 Stepsides and cab & chassis trucks didn't get the side trim,that I am aware of.The chrome strips indicate the vinyl door panels.

Yes,they were steel and would get rusty.When people replace them,all that's available is the polished aluminum and many just like that look better.I'm not sure why your's would have been replaced if nothing was never repaired or restored,unless the p.o. just liked the look better.I did my '70 Custom Camper/30 that way when I put a new grille in.That's all that was available through GM and the old steel ones would leave rust streaks without blasting the backs and painting.
