The DMV does not care what engine is in it, they care to see the VIN plate matches the paperwork you have. They really want to know that it is not a 3/4 ton being passed as a 1/2 ton to avoid the weight fees. You should be able to trailer it in to have the VIN inspected/verified by DMV/CHP. Good luck
