Weird for sure... Could be a float. I had the same thing happen in my Chevelle but it hapenned when I was trying to start it and it flooded baaaad. There was a hole in the float so it just kept pouring gas into the engine.

Drain the oil. Pull the plugs. Turn it over a few times with the plugs out to get all the fuel out of the cylinders. Install new plugs (you might be OK with the old ones depending on how they look). Fill it back up with oil and try again.

It's a PITA but if you don't get all the fuel and contaminated oil out you cause serious damage to your engine. A hydraulic lock can bend a rod which will cost you a lot more that some oil and a set of plugs.
