I've had similar issues with greasing the control arm bushings, on new and old bushings. The problem isn't usually the grease fitting, so I figured it had to do with a lack of a space for the grease to flow, but have not reconciled this fact with the older well worn bushings. I don't have an answer, but can say it isn't just you with this issue.
