Re: Opinions wanted
The NOS door latch is still a new part. The coating is more of an oxide rather than paint. As far as the price the latches were still available from GM within the last five years or so as I paid $60 each for the two NOS in my bb truck. In my opinion the bead blasted latches may get you a little more money than one straight out of a truck, but a used 40 year old latch, especially if from the driver's side, is a used latch. Just recently someone posted a picture of a hood hinge that the rivet at one of the pivot points gave up going down the road after hittting a bump. Used is used and if you dont know the history clean or not you are still taking a chance. I think the price on some of the NOS stuff on ebay is the exception rather than the rule as some parts are indicating a shortage that does not exist. I watched a NOS brake booster boot go for nearly $30 and I know for a fact I got two at Charlotte in GM boxes for $5 for the pair. The parts you have look very nice and I am sure they are quality parts, but they are still used. The market, however will decide the value as you well know.
