Hahahaha!!! When I put the tail light trim on, I was just mocking up the backup/tail lights. The first one was upside down.
So, for no real (good) reason, I put the second one on upside down, too.

I'm taking Frkypunk70's suggestion and walking away from the tailgate for a while. Just enough to see if I can get "the patience to back it" up.

I don't know what I'm going to do back there. But I do have a great way to stick the trim on now without drilling holes.
Two runs of 7/8" 3M trim tape. One sits down in the channel and "backs up" ( ) the second run. The second makes contact with
the first and the paint.

I used rubbing alcohol before sticking the trim on and let it dry very well before doing so. Never tried using the heat gun.
Sounds like a good idea.

Might go back to this.
