If your unsure about the coil wire you can always use a jumper right of the battery to the positive side of the coil,as a test. Just be careful because it will be wired hot and you wont be able to turn it off at the key with the wire on that way. As hei goes the factory ones are awsum and can usally be found at a resonable price. You might find one in the parts board here. Good luck keep us posted.
